HealthSouth Valley of the Sun Awarded Three Certifications from the Joint Commission
5/04/2015
GLENDALE, Ariz. – HealthSouth Valley of the Sun Rehabilitation Hospital has earned certification for Disease-Specific Care in three key programs: cardiac, stroke and brain injury rehabilitation. The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ was awarded to the hospital for its compliance with the organization’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety in disease-specific care.
“Our focus is to serve the needs of the Phoenix Metropolitan community,” said Beth Bacher, CEO of HealthSouth Valley of the Sun. “Each day, our staff works to provide a differentiated level of care and offer services that get patients back on their feet and functioning in their communities. We are honored to achieve these distinctions.”
To earn these certifications, the three rehabilitation programs underwent an extensive, unannounced, on-site evaluation by a team of Joint Commission reviewers. The programs were evaluated against Joint Commission standards through an assessment of the programs’ processes, the programs’ ability to evaluate and improve care within its own organization, and interviews with patients and staff.
“We voluntarily pursued The Joint Commission to evaluate our cardiac, stroke and brain injury rehabilitation programs because we wanted to continue to provide our excellent quality of care,” said Michael Kravetz, medical director at HealthSouth Valley of the Sun. “To receive this certification, our hospital has demonstrated compliance with national standards and an effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care for our patients.”
