HealthSouth Valley of the Sun Rehabilitation Hospital will observe Limb Loss Awareness Month in April with a special presentation from former Maricopa County Attorney and decorated U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Richard Romley. While serving in Vietnam in 1969, Romley lost both of his legs as a result of a land mine accident. Romley’s presentation will take place on Monday, April 18, at 10:00 a.m. at the hospital located at 13460 N. 67th Ave. in Glendale.
Romley, who resides in Scottsdale, Arizona, served as the elected Maricopa County Attorney from 1989 to 2004 and was appointed as interim Maricopa County Attorney on April 16, 2010. He currently operates his own firm specializing in strategic consulting issues resolution and legal representation. During his time of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, he received numerous awards including a Purple Heart. In 2001, he received two national awards for his service including Life’s Presidential Unsung Hero Award and America’s Outstanding Disabled American Veteran of the Year.
